Join us for a volunteer workday in Christ the King Lutheran Church's Community Harvest Garden and Food Forest. It's been a busy and bountiful year in our community garden. Over 800 pounds of fresh produce has been donated to local food pantries! Our native food forest is flourishing and is demonstrating how to use permaculture techniques for sustainable gardening. Now is the time to tackle some special projects - we're expanding and upgrading areas!
There is a variety of workday projects to choose from:
- Expanding the existing fence around the Community Harvest Garden
- Laying down cardboard, wood chips, and leaf mulch to create new garden beds
- Digging and moving dirt to create shallow swales to catch rainwater in the Food Forest
- Preparing, assembling, and installing a permanent cedar sign in the Food Forest
- Moving and spreading wood chips onto walking paths in the Food Forest
