Please register for this event on our website: Shared Harvest Volunteer Site
Volunteers needed offsite in Darke Co, to load cars, intake families and direct traffic but flexibility where needed is appreciated.
Comfortable clothing and tennis shoes are recommended, closed toe is required for safety. Dress weather appropriate as this is an outdoor event rain or shine. Wear sunscreen, sunglasses, hat and bundle up for cold weather.
The distribution is advertised to start at 3pm but please arrive early to help with set-up. We may start early if able.
How does it work?
- We serve anywhere from 200-500 families each distribution.
- Cars will drive up to the location where Intakers will be positioned with tablets to take information into our systems to register each neighbor.
- Neighbors can come as a proxy for other loved ones so some cars may represent more than one household. Intakers will write the number of households represented in each car on the windshield.
- Neighbors will drive up to receive the food in their cars.
- Food loaders are generally assigned one item each. Each item will have a quantity per household to distribute. Example: If you are assigned eggs and each household gets 2 eggs. When the car pulls up and it has a 2 on the windshield, you put 4 cartons of eggs in that car (unless a FoodBank staff member tells you to change up the quantity based on inventory or neighbors served)
Minimum Volunteer Age: 10
15-17 may come without an adult only if parental consent is submitted.
