Make a difference for native plants and animals by helping to remove invasive plants. We will tackle plants such as callery pear and honeysuckle that are invading the prairie at Riverside Natural Area. This will involve cutting down trees and shrubs, treating the stumps with herbicide, and possibly dragging downed wood to make piles. If we find trash, we will also try to clean this as we go.
What to bring:
- If you have work gloves, loppers, or a saw please bring them. We will have materials to borrow.
- It will be Fall in Ohio, so the ground may be hard and dry, or it may be really muddy. Please wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.
- We will be in an area with tall plants, so long sleeves and pants are recommended.
Parking: We will park along Joe Nuxhall Way in Joyce Park. Look for signs and vehicle parked between the Hawks RC aircraft field and River Rd. The prairie is located behind the airfield.
Other:
- There are no restrooms nearby.
- We will have water bottles, and jugs to refill if you bring your own reusable bottle.
Covid precautions: We will have sanitizer for hands and disinfectant for tools. Depending upon covid restrictions at the time, we may ask you to wear a mask.
